I was approached by a lovely elderly gentleman when I was fitting a light for his neighbour, he asked me if I could replace his consumer units for a fancy new one. As soon as I arrived on the day, he came to me with a coffee and a biscuit and said “ I’m 96, can we just have a drink together, I lost my wife 22 years ago” 🥹😢
It turns out, he was an industrial sparky in his day and he had wired the bungalow himself.

A wrap on this one today. 😁 I had some good fun with the conduit, all log cabins are put together differently and this one posed some challenges.

Fault finding on a split load board.
This board was installed In May this year by others. It does comply and has been installed nicely but now the customer is seething because they have an issue which is causing nuisance tripping and it’s costing them money to sort out when they’ve just had a “brand new board”.
It may be a brand new board but it’s old technology, for the cost of RCBO’s now, who is still fitting these?!
In the last 7 years, I’ve only installed split load board once, I know a lot of people see it as an easy way to make money but I much prefer RCBO boards.

Following on from the fault finding a few weeks ago, these garden spikes needed removing and replacing.
Using the @wiskaukltd magic gel to seal the Wiska boxes ensuring these lights should be around for a while.

This proved a challenging board change, unfortunately the customers alarm hadn’t been serviced in a long time and the battery was shot and it kept causing the alarm to blare out for long periods. My ears were ringing!
